NAFA Promotes National Forage Week

The National Alfalfa & Forage Alliance (NAFA) is pleased to be joining forces with the American Forage & Grassland Council (AFGC) to promote National Forage Week, an effort to raise awareness of the importance and impact of forages. National Forage Week is scheduled for June 19-25.

National Forage Week includes social media blitzes, photo fliers for local circulation, cameo videos, and email blasts and press releases. Any interested groups or individuals wishing to engage in the promotion are encouraged to visit alfalfa.org to download promotional links, shareable across several electronic formats.

Forage producers nationwide interested in helping promote National Forage Week are encouraged to put up fliers in local farm supply stores, send press releases to hometown papers, arrange for public service listings on local business reader boards, and post information on Facebook, Twitter or other social media posts. Promotional materials may be acquired at alfalfa.org.

Forage producers are also encouraged to share the National Forage Week video found online here or our press release found here, and share their forage experiences via social media at #NationalForageWeek.

FGI, Monsanto Announce Agreements to Support Innovation for Alfalfa Growers

Forage Genetics International (FGI) and Monsanto announced that FGI has acquired all of the commercial rights from the parties’ existing alfalfa research collaboration and that Monsanto has licensed to FGI certain intellectual property relating to its alfalfa traits and technology. Monsanto received a one-time upfront licensing fee of $210 million for these rights. The deal is expected to support the ongoing discovery and commercial delivery of innovative alfalfa seed products through FGI’s and Monsanto’s own seed brands, as well as licensed partners.
